DISCOVERING INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE. FOURNIER DE NAIPES MUSEUM

Activity: Children’s Workshop

Location: Vitoria – Gasteiz, Araba

Description of Activity: Tradition and modernity; rural and urban; town and neighbourhood… All of these struggle in an industrial context that today we can finally appraise as it is deserved, thanks to the distance that time contributes. Former workspaces have turned into heritage sites, and this one is a first-rate educational resource. By studying examples of our industrial heritage, we’ll be able to see wonderful examples of the bold use of reinforced concrete, brick or stone, which will help us understand 20th-century social anthropology and the unique styles of industrial architecture. Participants will enjoy a fun experience based on industrial architecture and will actively experiment with the proposed materials. Working as a team, they’ll carry out a task that will help them learn about our industrial heritage, and will offer them the chance to reflect on the current use of these buildings.
