Activity: Active Tour

Location: Sestao, Bizkaia

Description of Activity: On this tour we’ll have the opportunity to find out about the history of Altos Hornos de Vizcaya, a benchmark company in the 20th-century iron and steel industry, while accompanied by former workers. Now volunteers of the Foundation of Iron and Steel Workers, our guides for the day will tell us about the origins of Altos Hornos de Vizcaya and give us an insight into the iron & steel manufacturing process. We’ll then head towards Horno Alto Number 1, where we’ll be shown the main structural elements of the furnace and its operation. The activity will begin at the Sestao Apprentice School at 11.00 am.
