El desarrollo definitivo de la industrialización, ocurrido en Euskadi desde finales del S.XIX, transformó muchos de nuestros municipios y comarcas en espacios de trabajo, de fábricas, de movimiento imparable de mercancías, creando un universo paisajístico de gran potencia visual.

Todavía hoy, y pese a las importantes transformaciones urbanas sufridas durante los últimos 30 años, la propia fisonomía de nuestros pueblos y ciudades es consecuencia directa de aquel proceso de industrialización.

Así, los paisajes industriales, bien sean de carácter urbano, minero, portuario, etc., se han convertido en sí mismos en recursos con gran potencial cultural y turístico. Paisajes que complementan los espacios museísticos e interpretativos vinculados con nuestro pasado industrial y que, además de testigos del devenir industrial de Euskadi, mantienen la memoria de las empresas y de las y los trabajadores que los fabricaron.

Paisajes únicos que merecen ser preservados, explicados y difundidos a las generaciones futuras, pero, también, a las y los visitantes que quieran conocer nuestra historia. Por ello, el II Foro Internacional de Turismo Industrial tiene como objetivo, por un lado, profundizar en su conocimiento desde una visión cultural-patrimonial y, por otro, dar a conocer experiencias y buenas prácticas estatales e internacionales que sirvan de referencia para el futuro desarrollo de nuevos proyectos que refuercen la competitividad y el posicionamiento del producto Turismo Industrial de Euskadi.
