METROPOLITAN BILBAO, INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPES IN TRANSFORMATION

Location: Bilbao, Bizkaia

Description of Activity: Screening of several videos showing old images of industrial Vizcaya, edited by LAN Industrial Audiovisual Festival based on images from the Basque Film Library, and which will be interspersed with explanations from experts talking about the possibilities of reconverting industrial heritage around the Estuary of Bilbao. We’ll be accompanied by Javier Puertas, Chairman of the Basque Association of Industrial Heritage; Fernando Bayón, Doctor of Philosophy and Researcher at the University of Deusto Institute of Leisure Studies; and Nerea Díaz from Espacio Open, a revitalised industrial space on the Zorrotzaurre Peninsula. At the end of the event, the three speakers, along with Itxaso Díaz (coordinator of the LAN) and the attendees, will discuss issues related to the transformation of the estuary and its possible future as a tourist/leisure attraction.
